This week I hosted two DEI seminars, one at UMass (my current institution) and one at UConn (my former institution). As such, I’ve barely had time to make my own class material, never mind write a newsletter. However, this week I have something even better than a one-off, prose-filled rant about capitalism.
For my paid subscribers, this edition contains content from both of my seminars from this week. This includes my workshop materials from my workshop on how to incorporate social justice topics into STEM courses, as well as a recording of my seminar about the importance of trans inclusion in STEM, specifically in biology education. You can read more about each talk below.
By the way, if you want me to come to YOUR university/company/event to give a similar talk, that’s something I do now! My recent seminars have been described as “captivating” and as having “strong TED Talk vibes”. Consider recommending me to your department if you want to meet your favorite STEM Femme in-person!
By becoming a paid subscriber, you get access to both of these talks, as well as many other excellent essays that I write here on Substack. You also get to support my creative works in general! It only costs $5/month or $50/year to join this exclusive club. If you love my TikTok videos about STEM and social justice, this is more of that, except with TONS more resources and practical teaching advice (without the need to censor myself or appeal to The Algorithm for views).
If you’re a free subscriber, no worries! I’ll be back next week with more sweet, sweet content.
Take care!
