I recently started teaching night classes for the first time ever. My new Spring elective takes place once per week, on Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30pm.

Everything about this is entirely new to me. This is my first time teaching this particular content—mainly because this course did not exist before me. It’s my first time teaching a largely discussion-based class with lots of open writing, rather than courses where there’s usually a “right answer” to most assignments. Also, I’ve never even taken a night class before, never mind taught one.

Needless to say, it’s been an interesting experience! I’ve learned a ton about the process over just the first two weeks, so here are three lessons I’ve learned this semester so far!
