Amid accusations of anti-Semitism in the pro-Palestinian youth movement, which are generally designed to delegitimize the movement and serve as apologia for a genocidal ethno-state, it’s worth remembering that Jewish hate deserves to be taken seriously. I have no doubt that many of the 18-to-22-year-olds currently protesting on college campuses around the world are on a learning curve when it comes to Jewish hate, and refuse to hand-waive away such accusations as only political pageantry; anti-Semitism must be condemned.
Why do I care so much about this topic? Well, I’m not Jewish, so I definitely shouldn’t be taken as an authority on anti-Jewish bigotry; I strongly recommend following Jewish voices for learning about that. However, I am transgender, and I know my history, so I can say pretty confidently that as a trans person, Jewish hate affects me directly. Here’s how.
